Care

A jewellery care guide she will actually follow

Fine jewellery does not need a complicated ritual. A few gentle habits are enough to keep gold warm, silver clear and every stone bright.

The five-minute reset

After wearing, wipe the piece with a clean, soft cloth before returning it to its box. This removes the oils and product residue that slowly dull a polished surface.

  • Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray have dried.
  • Remove rings and bracelets before exercise, cleaning or swimming.
  • Store each piece separately so chains do not knot and stones do not scratch.
  • Keep silver dry and sealed when it is not being worn.

Clean gently at home

For plain gold and most diamond jewellery, use lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap and a very soft brush. Rinse carefully and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

Avoid toothpaste, baking soda and abrasive powders. They can leave fine scratches, and strong chemicals may harm plated finishes, pearls or porous stones.

Know when to bring it in

If a stone moves, a clasp feels loose or a prong catches on fabric, stop wearing the piece and have it checked. An annual professional inspection is a small habit that prevents a much larger repair.

Treat each piece as something made to be worn, then give it a quiet place to rest.
